In Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP unit President Ravinder Raina expressed his gratitude to the people for a record voter turnout in the recent Assembly elections. The Election Commission of India reported a 63.88% overall voter turnout. The third phase alone saw a 69.69% turnout, while the first and second phases recorded 61.38% and 57.31%, respectively.

Successful Elections Amidst Challenges

Ravinder Raina, speaking at the BJP headquarters in Jammu, thanked the voters for their participation and acknowledged the efforts of the security forces, including the Jammu and Kashmir police and various paramilitary forces, in ensuring peaceful elections. These elections were the first since the abrogation of Article 370.

The elections saw extensive campaigning by prominent leaders such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and others. The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference and Congress contested together, while the PDP and BJP ran independently. The vote counting is scheduled for October 8.
