Ravichandran Ashwin Praises Jasprit Bumrah as the ‘Kohinoor of Indian Cricket’ After Stellar Performance Against Bangladesh
Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 24: Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has praised fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, calling him the ‘Kohinoor of Indian Cricket.’ Bumrah was a key player in India’s victory in the first Test against Bangladesh, taking five wickets, including four in the first inning.
Since returning to international cricket in 2023 after battling injuries, Bumrah has been in exceptional form. He has taken 83 wickets in 34 games at an average of 15.43, with his best figures being 6/45. He compared fast bowlers to ‘tipper lorries’ that carry heavy loads and are prone to breakdowns, highlighting the physical demands of fast bowling.

Ashwin’s all-round performance and a crucial 199-run partnership with Ravindra Jadeja helped India recover from a difficult position. Bumrah’s brilliant bowling dismissed Bangladesh for 149 in the first innings. In the second innings, Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill scored centuries, setting a target of 515 runs for Bangladesh, who were bowled out for 234 thanks to Ashwin’s six-wicket haul.
