Republic Party Of India Chief, Ramdas Athawale

New Delhi, India – September 30: Ramdas Athawale, Chief of the Republican Party of India (RPI) and Union Minister, announced that the RPI had submitted a list of 20 to 21 seats to the BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule a week ago. Athawale requested that RPI be allocated at least 8 to 10 seats in the upcoming Maharashtra elections.

Athawale also demanded that one of the 12 Member of Legislative Council (MLC) positions appointed by the Governor be given to RPI, along with two to three Maha Mandal President posts. He stated, “If RPI is with Mahayuti, then there will not be much problem in coming to power because the atmosphere of Maharashtra is not like Lok Sabha.”

Additionally, Athawale mentioned that Rahul Gandhi’s anti-corruption statement in Vidhan Sabha would benefit their party significantly. He expressed hope that RPI would secure more than 160 seats in the Vidhan Sabha, despite previous losses in the Lok Sabha.

The Maharashtra legislative assembly elections will be held in 288 constituencies, with dates yet to be announced by the Election Commission of India. The elections will feature a contest between the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition (UBT Shiv Sena, NCP – Sharad Pawar faction, and Congress) and the Maha Yuti Alliance (BJP, Shiv Sena – Eknath Shinde faction, and NCP – Ajit Pawar faction).
