Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has laid the foundation stone for India’s second very low frequency (VLF) communication transmission station in Vikarabad district, Telangana. This significant event took place on Tuesday, marking a strategic advancement for India’s maritime communication capabilities.

Importance of the VLF Station

During the ceremony, Rajnath Singh highlighted the station’s role in enhancing secure, real-time communication with forces on land and at sea. He stressed that secure communication is crucial for operational success and can often determine the outcome of conflicts. Singh stated, “The VLF station we are establishing today is a key initiative to bolster communication for our maritime forces.”

Advancements in Communication Technology

Singh also spoke about the rapid advancements in communication technology over the past few decades. He noted that what was once considered impossible has now become reality, thanks to these advancements. He mentioned how communication technology ensured continuity in education, healthcare, and essential services during the lockdown.

Location and Purpose

The new VLF station will be located in the Damagudem forest area near Puduru in Vikarabad mandal. According to an official statement, the Indian Navy will use this station to communicate with ships and submarines, further securing India’s maritime interests.
