Rajasthan Royals Retain Key Players for IPL 2025

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have decided to retain four key players ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction. The players are Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, and Sandeep Sharma. This decision leaves the 2008 champions with two right-to-match (RTM) card options for the upcoming auction.

Player Performances

Sanju Samson, the team captain, had an impressive season, scoring 531 runs in 16 matches with an average of 48.27 and a strike rate of 153.47, including three half-centuries. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 225 runs in 16 matches with an average of 32.14 and a strike rate of 157.34, achieving both a fifty and a century. Riyan Parag was the third-highest run-scorer of the season with 573 runs at an average of 52.09 and a strike rate of 149.22, hitting four half-centuries. Sandeep Sharma took 13 wickets in 11 matches with an economy of 8.18 and a strike rate of 17.54.

Retention Rules and Auction Details

Franchises must submit their list of retained players by October 31. Each team can retain up to six players, with a maximum of five capped and two uncapped players. The auction purse for IPL 2025 is set at Rs 120 Crore, with a total salary cap of Rs 146 Crore, including match fees. A new match fee of Rs 7.5 Lakhs per match has been introduced for each playing member. Minimum deductions from the purse for retained players range from Rs 18 crores for the first player to Rs 4 crores for an uncapped player.
