Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has announced the names of candidates for two assembly seats in the upcoming Maharashtra elections. Bala Nandgaonkar will contest from the Shivadi Assembly constituency in Mumbai, while Dilip Dhotre will run from Pandharpur.

On August 3, Raj Thackeray met with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to discuss various issues, including housing projects like the redevelopment of BDD chawl and police housing colony. Senior Maharashtra government officials also attended the meeting.

Earlier, on July 25, Thackeray declared his intention to contest 200 to 250 seats independently in the upcoming assembly elections. In the 2019 elections, MNS won only one seat. During the recent Lok Sabha polls, MNS supported the BJP. The Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, comprising Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and NCP-SP, won a total of 17 seats in the Lok Sabha polls.

The elections for the 288-member Maharashtra Legislative Assembly are scheduled to be held later this year, although the Election Commission of India has not yet announced the dates.
