The Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) women’s team claimed a thrilling 3-1 victory against IndianOil Ltd in the final of the 4th Hockey India Senior Women Inter-Departmental National Championship 2024. The match took place at the Major Dhyanchand National Hockey Stadium in New Delhi.

Match Highlights

IndianOil took the lead in the 18th minute with a goal by Deepika. Railways quickly equalized with a strike from Vandana Katariya. The game remained tied until the fourth quarter when Railways’ captain, Navneet Kaur, scored a crucial goal. Salima Tete sealed the win with a final goal, leading Railways to a 3-1 victory.

Award Ceremony

Pankaj Jain, Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, presented the winner’s trophy to Railways. V Satish Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Oil Corporation, awarded the runner-up trophy to IndianOil. Salima Tete was named ‘Player of the Match’.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) won the bronze medal match against the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in a penalty shootout. Individual awards were given to outstanding players, including Deepa Sharma as Best Goalkeeper and Jyoti as Best Player of the Tournament.

The championship highlighted the best of women’s hockey in India, attracting national team selectors and coaches.
