Qatar Airways Bans Pagers and Walkie-Talkies on Flights from Beirut

Qatar Airways has announced that passengers flying from Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport are no longer allowed to carry pagers and walkie-talkies. This ban applies to both checked and carry-on luggage, as well as cargo, and will be enforced until further notice.

The decision comes after recent explosions in Lebanon involving these devices, which caused significant casualties. In the latest incidents, at least 20 people were killed and over 450 were injured. Just a day earlier, 12 people lost their lives and more than 2800 were wounded in similar explosions.

Meanwhile, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) have launched targeted strikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon. The IDF aims to degrade Hezbollah’s capabilities and secure northern Israel, allowing residents to return to their homes. Israel’s Defence Minister Yoav Gallant has declared the start of a ‘new phase’ in the war, focusing on the northern arena.

Rescue operations are ongoing, with the Lebanese Red Cross working to evacuate and assist those affected by the explosions.
