Detention of Top Smuggler Avtar Singh

The Punjab Police Anti-Narcotics Task Force, in collaboration with Gurdaspur police, has successfully detained Avtar Singh, also known as Tari, a notorious smuggler from Gurdaspur. This marks Punjab’s first use of the PITS-NDPS Act, allowing for preventive detention in narcotics cases. Tari will be held for two years at Central Jail Bathinda, highlighting Punjab’s commitment to eradicating drug smuggling.

Illegal Weapons Network Exposed

On October 24, Fazilka police uncovered a network involved in illegal weapons trade. The main accused, Manpreet Singh, along with three others, was arrested. The police recovered three country-made pistols, magazines, and live rounds. The weapons were sourced from Madhya Pradesh and sold further. Jaspreet Singh, a buyer from Bathinda, was also arrested. The police are determined to dismantle this organized crime network.

Foiled Escape Attempt of Undertrial Prisoner

On October 23, Kapurthala Police prevented an escape attempt by anti-national elements to free Jashnpreet Singh, an undertrial prisoner, during a medical check-up. The police’s quick response led to the arrest of two criminals involved. Efforts are ongoing to uncover the full network behind this attempt.
