Detention of Top Smuggler Avtar Singh
The Punjab Police Anti-Narcotics Task Force, in collaboration with Gurdaspur police, has successfully detained Avtar Singh, also known as Tari, a notorious smuggler from Gurdaspur. This marks Punjab’s first use of the PITS-NDPS Act, allowing for preventive detention in narcotics cases. On October 24, Fazilka police uncovered a network involved in illegal weapons trade. The main accused, Manpreet Singh, along with three others, was arrested. On October 23, Kapurthala Police prevented an escape attempt by anti-national elements to free Jashnpreet Singh, an undertrial prisoner, during a medical check-up.
