Punjab Police Busts Trans-Border Drug and Arms Cartel

The Punjab police have successfully dismantled a trans-border drug smuggling and arms cartel in Amritsar. Two individuals were apprehended with a significant haul of illegal substances and weapons, including 8.275 kg of heroin, 6 kg of opium, 13.1 kg of chemicals, four pistols, and 17 cartridges.

Director General of Police, Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, announced the breakthrough on his official social media account. He confirmed the registration of an FIR under the NDPS Act at PS Islamabad and ongoing investigations to trace the network’s connections.

In a related operation, Jalandhar Rural Police dismantled two criminal gangs, including a UK-based extortion syndicate, arresting ten criminals and seizing weapons and vehicles. The investigation revealed international links with operations directed from the UK, Greece, and Manila.

Earlier, Ferozepur police intercepted suspects with a cache of weapons, leading to significant leads. The Punjab Police’s efforts have disrupted foreign-backed crime, tracing at least 14 cases of extortion and shootings.
