PTI Withdraws Request for Rawalpindi Rally Amid Delays
Islamabad, Pakistan – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has withdrawn its plea to hold a public rally in Rawalpindi on September 28. The decision was made during a hearing at Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi bench, led by Justice Chaudhry Abdul Aziz.
During the hearing, the PTI lawyer explained that the plea was filed three days earlier but was only being heard now. The lawyer also mentioned that the deputy commissioner was delaying the issue, leading PTI to withdraw the plea on the leadership’s instruction.
Earlier, PTI leaders Ghulam Husnain, Owais Younis, and Nabeel Satti had filed an application seeking permission to hold the rally at Liaquat Bagh or Bhatta Chowk in Rawalpindi. They urged the Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner to release a No Objection Certificate (NoC) for the rally, citing constitutional rights.
In a separate announcement, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur stated that PTI would hold a public gathering in Mianwali on September 29. Gandapur criticized ruling parties for their involvement in unconstitutional activities and expressed support for PTI founder Imran Khan, who has been in prison for 414 days.
On September 21, PTI held a rally in Lahore, which was abruptly stopped before many top leaders could speak due to a missed deadline set by city officials. Lahore police took control of the stage, forcing PTI leaders to leave.
