PTI Chairman Gohar Khan Discusses Military Talks and Imran Khan's Detention

In Karachi, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan shared that his party had engaged in secret discussions with Pakistan's military before the November 2024 protests. However, these talks have now ended, and the PTI is only communicating with the government. Initially, the PTI sought military discussions due to the army's influence in national decisions. These talks were progressing positively until PTI founder Imran Khan was arrested in a new case.

Imran Khan had been granted bail in the Toshakhana case, involving a controversial jewelry purchase, but was rearrested for charges related to the September 2024 protest, causing the military talks to collapse. Gohar stated that while current talks with the military have ceased, future negotiations are not entirely ruled out. The PTI is now focused on government dialogue.

Gohar also addressed rumors about moving Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to his home, dismissing them and reiterating Khan's view of his detention as illegal. He also rejected a proposed meeting between Imran Khan, Nawaz Sharif, and Asif Ali Zardari, calling it "idealistic" due to their differences.

In Peshawar, PTI's Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqqas Akram confirmed ongoing talks with the government, unaffected by the upcoming judgment in the £190 million case. He clarified that the release of PTI workers from military courts was unrelated to these talks. The PTI is also leading a civil disobedience movement, urging overseas Pakistanis to halt remittances, aiming to pressure the government to meet their demands, including releasing imprisoned members and investigating past protests.

Akram criticized internet disruptions, warning of their negative impact on Pakistan's digital economy, especially affecting the youth.
