Condolences for Hathras Stampede Victims

As the Rajya Sabha proceedings began, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhhar expressed condolences for the lives lost in the Hathras stampede. Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge urged the government to enact legislation to prevent such incidents in the future.

Highlights from the 18th Lok Sabha Session

The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha was highly productive, with Speaker Om Birla noting a productivity rate of 103%. A total of 539 newly elected members took oath, and Om Birla was re-elected as Speaker. The session included the President’s speech and a discussion on the Motion of Thanks, which saw participation from 68 members.

Formation of the New Government

The BJP-led NDA formed its third successive government after winning 293 seats in the recent Lok Sabha polls. The opposition INDIA bloc won 243 seats. The session began on June 24 with the oath-taking of new members.
