During his state visit to Guyana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded the 'Dominica Award of Honour', the highest national award of Dominica. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar congratulated him, highlighting the recognition of Modi's leadership and support to Dominica during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prime Minister Modi expressed gratitude, stating, "This honour is not only mine but also of the 1.4 billion people of India." He thanked President Sylvanie Burton of Dominica for presenting the award in Guyana and emphasized the strong historic and cultural ties between India and Dominica.
Modi also noted the role of both nations as role models in women empowerment, with both having women presidents. He reiterated India's commitment to supporting Dominica's development and capacity building.
Additionally, during his visit, PM Modi received 'The Order of Excellence', Guyana's highest national award, from President Mohamed Irfaan Ali, recognizing his service to the global community and strengthening India-Guyana relations.
