Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley has expressed strong opposition to President-elect Donald Trump's decision to appoint Tulsi Gabbard as the Director of National Intelligence (DNI). Haley voiced her concerns about Gabbard's perceived sympathies towards countries like Russia, Syria, Iran, and China.
During a podcast shared on her social media, Haley criticized Gabbard for opposing the end of the Iran nuclear deal and for her skepticism regarding Bashar al-Assad's involvement in chemical attacks in Syria. Haley also highlighted Gabbard's comments on the Ukraine conflict, where Gabbard blamed NATO for Russia's invasion.
Haley stated, "What are the facts about Tulsi Gabbard? She opposed ending the Iran nuclear deal. She opposed sanctions on Iran, she opposed designating the Iran military as terrorists who say death to America every single day. This is going to be the future head of our national intelligence in Congress."
Haley further criticized Gabbard for defending Russia, Syria, Iran, and China, and for not retracting any of her views. She questioned Gabbard's suitability for the DNI role, emphasizing the need for someone who can analyze real threats.
Haley also accused Gabbard of attempting to reduce the US defense budget to prevent actions against Iran and criticized her for visiting Syria in 2017. Additionally, Haley condemned Gabbard for blaming NATO for the Russian attack on Ukraine and for supporting Julian Assange and Edward Snowden.
Despite Haley's criticisms, President Trump praised Gabbard's commitment to the country and announced her appointment as DNI, highlighting her bipartisan support and dedication to American freedoms.
