Celebrating Diwali and Sardar Patel’s Birth Anniversary
On October 31, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Ekta Nagar in Gujarat’s Narmada district to inaugurate and lay the foundation for various development projects worth over Rs 284 crore. This event coincides with Diwali and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary, also known as National Unity Day.
Key Projects and Developments
The Prime Minister will inaugurate several facilities, including a 50-bed sub-district hospital, traffic circles, smart bus stops, and a 4 MW solar project. The hospital, built for Rs 22 crore, will offer essential medical services, including a trauma center and ICU-on-wheels.
Additionally, a sewage treatment plant, bonsai garden, and Sardar Sarovar Dam Experience Center will be established. The sewage plant, costing Rs 75 crore, will manage waste from 4,000 homes and other establishments.
Tourism and Infrastructure Enhancements
The Statue of Unity Area Development and Tourism Governance Authority is developing smart bus stops and traffic circles to improve transportation and aesthetics. A Sculpture Symposium held in July 2024 resulted in 24 sculptures that will be displayed throughout Ekta Nagar.
Other enhancements include pedestrian crossings, car charging points, and a running track for safety. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate walkways and the expansion of the Miyawaki Forest.
Flood Defense and Future Plans
In response to 2023 floods, a protection wall near the Cactus Garden will be extended, and land levels in Garudeshwar will be raised to prevent future flooding. A jetty will be developed to improve transportation options.
