Prime Minister Modi Launches New Airport Projects in Varanasi
On October 20, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for new terminal buildings and related works at Varanasi Airport, as well as new civil enclaves at Agra, Darbhanga, and Bagdogra. He also inaugurated new airports in Rewa, Sarsawa, and Ambikapur. The development of these projects is part of a larger initiative to enhance infrastructure and create employment opportunities. The new terminal and civil enclave projects are estimated to cost Rs 5910 crore, while the three new airports were developed at a cost of Rs 225.88 crore. These airports are designed to serve around 10 lakh passengers annually and include modern facilities and sustainability features.
Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of these projects in improving services and creating jobs. The designs of the airports reflect local culture and heritage. Union Minister Naidu highlighted the expected growth in passenger numbers at Varanasi Airport and the role of the ‘UDAN Yojana’ Regional Connectivity Scheme in developing the new airports.
