On October 31, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over the death of TPG Nambiar, the chairman of BPL Group, an Indian electronics company. PM Modi described Nambiar as a “pioneering innovator and industrialist” who was dedicated to strengthening India’s economy. He extended his condolences to Nambiar’s family and admirers through a social media post.

TPG Nambiar, commonly known as TPG, was also the father-in-law of BJP leader and former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar. Upon hearing the news, Chandrasekhar paused his election campaign to return to Bengaluru and be with his family. He shared his grief on social media, calling Nambiar a “true visionary” who built one of India’s most trusted consumer brands.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor also paid tribute to Nambiar, praising his contributions to the electronics industry. Tharoor highlighted Nambiar’s role in establishing a state-of-the-art facility in Palakkad, Kerala, after acquiring British Physical Laboratories in 1961 and renaming it BPL Limited. Tharoor described Nambiar as a “true pioneer” and an inspiration.
