On Police Commemoration Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the bravery and sacrifice of police personnel. He shared on social media that their dedication ensures public safety and their efforts during humanitarian challenges are commendable.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed senior officers, retired personnel, and families of police officers, assuring them that the sacrifices of those who lost their lives will not be forgotten. Shah highlighted that 36,468 police personnel have died in service, contributing to the nation’s development. In the past year alone, 216 police personnel lost their lives.

Police Commemoration Day, observed on October 21, honors police martyrs with a main event at the National Police Memorial. A joint parade by Central Armed Police Forces and Delhi Police is held to honor the fallen. This day remembers the sacrifice of ten policemen ambushed by Chinese troops at Hot Springs, Ladakh, in 1959, symbolizing the courage of all martyrs.
