President Droupadi Murmu Praises India’s G20 Presidency and Highlights Achievements

New Delhi [India], June 27: President Droupadi Murmu praised India’s leadership during the G20 Summit held in New Delhi last year. She highlighted how India united the world on many issues and welcomed the African Union as the 27th member of the G20, strengthening trust with the African continent and the Global South.

During her address to a joint session of Parliament, President Murmu noted the positive change in the world’s view of India, as seen at the G7 Summit in Italy. She emphasized India’s strengthened relations with neighboring countries through the Neighbourhood First policy, mentioning the participation of leaders from seven neighboring nations in the swearing-in ceremony of the Union Council of Ministers on June 9.

President Murmu also spoke about the India-Middle East Economic Corridor, a significant initiative involving India, the US, UAE, Saudi Arabia, France, Germany, Italy, and the European Union. This corridor aims to enhance connectivity and is expected to be a major game-changer of the 21st century.

She congratulated the newly elected members of the 18th Lok Sabha and thanked the Election Commission of India for conducting peaceful elections. Highlighting India’s achievements, she mentioned the success of Chandrayaan-3’s lunar landing, India’s leadership in digital payments, and its status as the fastest-growing economy.

President Murmu also reflected on India’s democratic values, the importance of maintaining faith in democratic institutions, and the successful use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in elections. She concluded by administering the oath to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his third term, emphasizing his commitment to the nation’s prosperity.
