The Prayagraj Railway Division in Uttar Pradesh is gearing up for the Mahakumbh 2025, a major religious festival expected to attract millions of devotees. To ensure smooth travel, the division has announced special entry and exit routes at all stations during key bathing festivals like Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya, Vasant Panchami, and Maghi Purnima.
NCR GM Umesh Chandra Joshi explained that at Prayagraj Junction, entry will be from the city side via platform no. 1, while exits will be on the Civil Lines side. Unreserved passengers will be directed to their trains through designated shelter areas. Reserved passengers have a separate entry at gate number 5.
At Naini Junction, entry is from Station Road, with exits towards the warehouse. Prayagraj Chheoki station will have entry via COD road and exit through GEC Naini Road. Subedarganj station will allow entry from Jhalwa and Kaushambi Road, with exits via GT Road.
Passenger shelters at Prayagraj stations can accommodate 3,000 to 4,000 people, with facilities for ticketing and ATMs. Reserved passengers can access platforms 30 minutes before train arrival. Prayagraj Sangam and Daraganj stations will be closed during main festivals.
Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw plans to operate 13,000 trains, including 3,000 special fair trains, to manage the expected 450 million devotees, with 100 million traveling by train.
