Polygraph Test for Former RG Kar Medical College Principal Sandip Ghosh and Others in Kolkata
A team of experts from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Delhi has arrived in Kolkata to conduct a polygraph test on former RG Kar Medical College principal Sandip Ghosh and others. This test is related to the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor.
Who Will Be Tested?
The polygraph test will be conducted on:
- Sandip Ghosh
- Sanjay Roy, the main accused
- Four doctors
- One volunteer
The main accused, Sanjay Roy, will be tested in jail, while the others will be tested at the CBI office in Kolkata.
Financial Irregularities Investigation
Earlier, the Calcutta High Court transferred the investigation of financial irregularities involving Dr. Sandip Ghosh to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). This decision was made following a petition by Akhtar Ali, the former deputy superintendent of the hospital, who accused Dr. Ghosh of financial misconduct and unethical practices.
The CBI has been given three weeks to submit a progress report on the investigation, which is due on September 17.
Judicial Custody for Main Accused
In a separate development, the Sealdah Court has remanded Sanjay Roy, the main accused in the rape and murder case, to 14 days of judicial custody. His custody will continue until September 6, 2024, under the supervision of the CBI.
The trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9.
