Police Officer Suspended for Abusing Farmers in Madurai
A special sub-inspector of police in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, named Thavamani, has been suspended for allegedly abusing farmers at a checkpoint. The incident occurred near the Paravai Vegetable Market and was captured on video, which went viral on social media.
Madurai City Police Commissioner J Loganathan took action against Thavamani after the video showed him using obscene language and threatening a farmer. Thavamani was stationed at Kodalputhur police station.
The incident happened three days ago when Thavamani reportedly stopped a cargo vehicle carrying farmers and flower bags, leading to a confrontation. In the video, Thavamani can be heard using abusive language and threatening to hit one of the farmers with his footwear.
