Police Detain BJP Workers Protesting Against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah

In Bengaluru, police detained BJP workers who were protesting outside Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s official residence. The protestors demanded Siddaramaiah’s resignation after the High Court dismissed his plea against an investigation into the MUDA land allotment scam.

High Court Decision

The Karnataka High Court dismissed Siddaramaiah’s petition challenging Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s approval for an investigation into alleged illegalities in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority’s (MUDA) allotting sites to his wife. Justice Nagaprasanna stated that the Governor’s sanction for prosecution was valid.

Political Reactions

Siddaramaiah claims that the BJP and JD(S) are targeting him because of his pro-poor schemes. He stated, “They have launched political retribution against me because they can’t bear to see the pro-people schemes we have introduced. But I have unwavering faith in the law and our Constitution. Ultimately, the truth will prevail in this fight.”

The Congress party has ruled out Siddaramaiah’s resignation and plans to appeal the High Court’s decision. However, BJP leaders argue that Siddaramaiah has lost his moral standing to remain in office.
