In the Cachar district of Assam, a police constable named Ishwar Singha, aged 51, tragically ended his life using his service weapon. The incident occurred in Silchar after he completed his sentry duty at Circuit House and returned to his rest room.

Details of the Incident

Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta reported that upon receiving information about the incident, a police team, including senior officers, quickly arrived at the scene. Singha was immediately taken to Silchar Medical College & Hospital, where he was declared dead by the on-duty doctor.

Ongoing Investigation

The police have informed Singha’s family, who are on their way. The firearm and empty cartridge have been seized, and his rest room has been sealed. An inquest over the body is in progress, and all necessary legal actions are being taken.
