PM Narendra Modi and Luxembourg PM Luc Frieden Discuss Stronger Ties
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a conversation with Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden to discuss strengthening relations in areas such as trade and investment. PM Modi shared on his official X handle, ‘Had a good conversation with Prime Minister Luc Frieden. Reiterated commitment to deepen and strengthen India-Luxembourg ties including in the areas of trade, investment, financial services and industrial manufacturing.’ He also emphasized the support for regional and global peace and stability.
Luc Frieden also posted about the conversation on his official X handle, stating, ‘Had a good phone call with Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India. India is an important partner for Luxembourg.’ He added that they confirmed their commitment to further strengthen their close ties and discussed geopolitical issues of common interest.
The diplomatic relations between India and Luxembourg were established in 1947. Since then, the two countries have enjoyed close, warm, and friendly relations, rooted in a shared commitment to the Rule of Law, democratic values, and development. The relationships are characterized by a high degree of understanding and appreciation of each other’s concerns and interests.
In April, the 2nd round of India-Luxembourg Foreign Office Consultations (FoC) took place in New Delhi, focusing on bilateral relations and the early conclusion of a comprehensive, balanced, and mutually beneficial India-EU Free Trade Agreement. Discussions included expanding economic links and deepening cooperation in finance, steel, space, ICT, innovation, start-ups, manufacturing, automotives, health, sustainable development, renewable energy, and the fight against climate change.
