Prime Minister Narendra Modi was warmly welcomed by the Indian community upon his arrival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the 19th G20 Leaders' Summit. Expressing his gratitude, PM Modi shared on social media, "Deeply touched by the warm and lively welcome from the Indian community upon arriving in Rio de Janeiro. Their energy reflects the affection that binds us across continents."
Upon his arrival, PM Modi was greeted with a vibrant dandiya dance performed by dancers in traditional Gujarati attire. Vedic scholars added a spiritual touch by chanting mantras, and the diaspora presented gifts to the Prime Minister as a sign of respect. The Indian community gathered in large numbers, waving flags and carrying pictures of PM Modi, expressing their excitement and pride.
Before arriving in Brazil, PM Modi completed the first leg of his three-nation tour in Nigeria, where he met with Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to discuss cooperation in various sectors. India also announced a humanitarian aid package to support Nigeria's flood relief efforts.
In Rio de Janeiro, PM Modi was received by Indian officials, including Ambassador Suresh Reddy. The G20 Summit is significant as India, a Troika member, plays a crucial role in shaping the agenda while passing the presidency to Brazil. PM Modi expressed his anticipation for the summit, stating, "Landed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to take part in the G20 Summit. I look forward to the Summit deliberations and fruitful talks with various world leaders."
PM Modi highlighted Brazil's continuation of the Global South agenda, saying, "This year, Brazil has built upon India's legacy. I look forward to meaningful discussions in keeping with our vision of 'One Earth, One Family, One Future.'"
