Major Infrastructure Developments Approved by PM Modi’s Cabinet

Road Construction in Border Areas

The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the construction of 2,280 km of roads in the border areas of Rajasthan and Punjab. This project, with an investment of Rs4,406 crore, aims to improve rural livelihoods and connectivity with the national highway network. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the transformation of border villages, emphasizing the importance of infrastructure development in these regions.

National Maritime Heritage Complex in Gujarat

The Cabinet has also approved the development of the National Maritime Heritage Complex in Lothal, Gujarat. This complex will be the largest of its kind in the world, showcasing India’s rich maritime heritage. The project will be completed in two phases, with funding raised through voluntary contributions.

Fortified Rice Supply Continuation

The Cabinet has decided to continue the universal supply of fortified rice under government schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, from July 2024 to December 2028. This initiative aims to address anaemia and micronutrient deficiencies, ensuring nutritional security across the country.
