PM Modi Meets World Leaders at ASEAN-India Summit in Laos

Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 21st ASEAN-India Summit in Vientiane, Laos, where he met with several global leaders. On the sidelines of the summit, PM Modi had a friendly meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, expressing his pleasure on social media.

He also had a conversation with the Prime Minister of the Philippines, Bongbong Marcos, and described it as wonderful. Additionally, PM Modi interacted with Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, calling it a delight.

Further interactions included a meeting with Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, and a conversation with Charles Michel, President of the European Council.

Before these meetings, PM Modi met Japan’s new Prime Minister, Shigeru Ishiba, to reaffirm their commitment to a peaceful Indo-Pacific region. He also held bilateral talks with New Zealand’s Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, discussing economic cooperation, tourism, education, and innovation.

PM Modi’s visit to Laos, at the invitation of Laos’s Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, is significant as it marks a decade of India’s Act East Policy. He will also participate in the 19th East Asia Summit.
