PM Modi Meets Russian Artists and Announces New Consulates in Russia

During his visit to Moscow, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with artists from the Russian Cultural Troupe who performed to welcome him. PM Modi asked the artists about their dance practice, to which they responded that they have been practicing for many years, some for 10 years and some for 30 years.

PM Modi also asked the artists about their visits to India, and they expressed their happiness at meeting him. He addressed the Indian community in Moscow, highlighting the strong ties between India and Russia and the contributions of the Indian diaspora.

After his address, a member of the Indian diaspora expressed excitement about PM Modi’s visit, calling it the most important visit after the elections. ISKCON Moscow President, Sadhu Priya Das, showed PM Modi a picture from his 2001 visit to the ISKCON Temple in Moscow. Swami Atmalokananda from Ram Krishna Mission praised PM Modi, stating that they cannot think of the future of India without him.

PM Modi announced the opening of new Indian consulates in Kazan and Yekaterinburg to enhance travel and business trade. He also mentioned the India-Russia ‘North-South Transport corridor’ and the upcoming Chennai-Valdivostok Eastern corridor.

PM Modi emphasized India’s role as a ‘Vishwa Bandhu’ (Friend of the World) and praised the Indian community for strengthening India-Russia ties. He highlighted the mutual trust and respect between the two nations and praised Russian President Vladimir Putin for his efforts in strengthening the partnership.

PM Modi also spoke about India’s achievements, including its space missions, digital transactions, and startup ecosystem. He was accompanied by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra, and India’s Ambassador to Russia, Vinay Kumar. Earlier, PM Modi held an informal meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Novo-Ogaryovo residence near Moscow.
