Accompanied by Guyana's Prime Minister Mark Phillips, PM Modi visited the Indian Arrival Monument, a replica of the first ship bringing Indian migrants to Guyana in 1838. He paid tribute to the Indian diaspora's contributions and planted a Bel Patra sapling.
During his visit, PM Modi addressed the Guyanese Parliament, highlighting the strong bond between India and Guyana. He advocated for global cooperation over conflict, emphasizing 'democracy first and humanity first' as guiding principles.
This visit marks the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Guyana in over 50 years, coinciding with the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit.
