New Delhi, India – Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Olympic and World Championships gold medalist Neeraj Chopra after he won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics. PM Modi praised Neeraj for his consistent performance despite recent injuries and lauded the sportsmanship shown by Neeraj’s mother, Saroj, who congratulated Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem for winning gold and setting an Olympic record.

Neeraj Chopra secured the silver medal in the men’s javelin throw with a best throw of 89.45 meters. Arshad Nadeem won gold with a throw of 92.97 meters, setting a new Olympic record. Grenada’s Anderson Peters took bronze with a throw of 88.54 meters.

Neeraj’s mother, Saroj Devi, expressed her joy, saying, “We are very happy. For us, silver is as valuable as gold. Despite his injury, we are proud of our son’s performance.” Neeraj’s father, Satish Chopra, also shared his pride and mentioned that Neeraj’s injury might have affected his performance.

Neeraj acknowledged that the last two to three years had been challenging due to injuries and emphasized the need to work on staying injury-free and improving his technique.
