PM GatiShakti Expands Internationally
India Collaborates with Neighboring Countries
New Delhi, India – The PM GatiShakti initiative, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October 2021, is now being taken to an international level. Diplomatic engagements are underway with countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Senegal, and Gambia to promote the use of PM GatiShakti and geospatial technology in infrastructure planning.
The initiative, which recently celebrated its third anniversary, has integrated 44 central ministries and 36 states/UTs with over 1600 data layers. This integration has led to faster project execution, reduced logistics costs, and improved services across India.
Key Achievements
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the paradigm shift in infrastructure planning and implementation brought about by PM GatiShakti. Over 200 major infrastructure projects have been evaluated, enhancing logistics efficiency and synchronized implementation.
The initiative also extends to social sector ministries, focusing on primary healthcare, education, and tribal development. All 36 states and UTs have developed portals aligned with the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, streamlining capital investment and accelerating infrastructure development.
International Collaboration
Efforts are being made to promote PM GatiShakti internationally, with diplomatic engagements in progress. The platform’s data-driven approach, powered by GIS-based tools, ensures projects align with national priorities and are completed on time.
The initiative supports India’s commitment to Net Zero by 2070, promoting green infrastructure and sustainable logistics solutions. Capacity building has been a focus, with courses and workshops conducted across all states and UTs.
The PM GatiShakti platform emphasizes cross-sectoral cooperation and emerging technologies like AI and IoT, revolutionizing infrastructure management and planning.
