Pakistan’s Rizwan Talks About T20 World Cup Struggles and PCB Decisions

Pakistan’s cricket team faced a tough ICC T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA, failing to advance past the group stage. Opener Mohammed Rizwan acknowledged the team’s poor performance and justified the criticism they received. He emphasized that PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi has the authority to decide the team’s future.

Disappointing Performance

Pakistan ended their campaign with a three-wicket win over Ireland in Florida, but it was not enough to advance. They suffered defeats against the USA and India, and despite wins against Canada and Ireland, they missed out on the Super 8 stage due to net-run-rate.

Rizwan’s Comments

Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar, Rizwan said, “The criticism the team is facing is justified and we deserve this since we did not perform in accordance with expectations. Players who cannot face criticism would not be able to succeed.”

He compared the team to an ill person needing an operation and stated that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has the right to decide the team’s future.

Player Performances

Rizwan had an underwhelming tournament, scoring 110 runs in four innings. Captain Babar Azam also struggled, scoring 122 runs in four games.
