Pakistan Cricket Team to Field All-Pace Attack Against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi Test
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the team will field an all-pace bowling line-up for the first Test against Bangladesh, starting on August 21 in Rawalpindi.
In a press release, the PCB mentioned that spinner Abrar Ahmed and top-order batter Kamran Ghulam were released from the squad to participate in a practice game between Pakistan Shaheens and Bangladesh ‘A’ from August 20-23. They will rejoin the Test team after the practice game.
The squad for the first Test includes pacers Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Aamer Jamal, Khurram Shahzad, and Mir Hamza. Part-time bowlers Salman Ali Agha, Saim Ayub, and Saud Shakeel can provide some spin overs if needed.
Seven players from the Shaheens team, including Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Huraira, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Saud Shakeel, have been called up to the main Test squad.
The second Test of the two-match series will be played from August 30 to September 3. Pakistan currently has a point percentage of 36.66 in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle, placing them below India, Australia, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka.
