Pakistan Cricket Board Denies NOCs to Star Players

Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan to Miss Global T20 Canada

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to grant No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) to three of its star cricketers: Shaheen Shah Afridi, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan, for the Global T20 Canada. This decision was made after consulting with the players and the national selection committee.

The PCB cited Pakistan’s busy international schedule from August 2024 to March 2025 as the main reason. During this period, Pakistan will play nine ICC World Test Championship matches and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The board emphasized the importance of workload management for these all-format players to ensure they are in top mental and physical shape for the upcoming season.

Earlier, Naseem Shah was also denied an NOC for The Hundred on similar grounds. Pakistan’s packed schedule includes three Tests against England, a limited-overs series in Australia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, followed by a Test series in South Africa, and a home Test series against the West Indies. To prepare for the Champions Trophy, Pakistan will participate in a home tri-series against South Africa and New Zealand before hosting the ICC Champions Trophy.

While the main players will focus on their international commitments, the PCB has approved NOCs for Asif Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Amir, and Mohammad Nawaz, who are primarily white-ball cricketers.
