Omar Abdullah Urges Vigilance After Ganderbal Attack in Jammu and Kashmir

In Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasized the need for heightened alertness among security forces following a terrorist attack in Ganderbal. This attack resulted in the deaths of seven people, including a doctor and migrant workers. Abdullah questioned the justification of violence against innocents, stating that such acts aim to portray instability in the region.

During his visit to Manjkote to offer condolences to Muzaffar Iqbal Khan, Abdullah reiterated the importance of condemning violence and maintaining peace. He urged the administration to prevent future attacks and ensure public safety. The attack occurred at a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh highway, targeting workers returning to their camp.

Abdullah faced criticism for initially labeling the incident as a “militant attack” rather than a “terrorist attack.” J-K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha condemned the violence, asserting that no one supports such bloodshed. Abdullah recently resigned from the Budgam assembly seat, retaining his position in Ganderbal, a stronghold of the National Conference.
