On a historic Sunday in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah participated in the region’s first-ever International Marathon. He proudly completed the 21 km run, sharing his excitement on social media. “I’m so damn pleased with myself today,” he wrote, highlighting his achievement of running at an average pace of 5 minutes and 54 seconds per kilometer. Despite having never run more than 13 km before, Abdullah was motivated by fellow amateur runners and the cheering crowd, including his family.
The marathon, flagged off by CM Abdullah at Polo Stadium, was attended by Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty. This event was a significant milestone for Kashmir, promoting sports and tourism while showcasing its stunning landscapes. Shetty emphasized the importance of such events, stating, “People want to come to Kashmir, and an event like this sends a message to the entire world.”
