Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan announced that the state government is investigating the extensive use of helicopters by former bureaucrat V.K. Pandian, who is a close aide of former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Harichandan emphasized the need for clarity on who was bearing the helicopter expenses and mentioned that helipads were constructed using government funds. He stated, “A probe will also be initiated on who & how permission was given for the use of helicopters by a department secretary, as there is no such provision.”

In another statement, Harichandan addressed the influx of Bangladeshi nationals into Odisha through West Bengal, following political turmoil in Bangladesh. He said, “The process to verify the identities of Bangladeshi nationals who are coming to Odisha will start very soon. We have already alerted our coastal security.” He added that the Odisha Chief Minister has reviewed the situation and that all marine police stations have been sensitized.
