Tel Aviv-based company nT-Tao has made a significant advancement in fusion energy technology with the development of its Modular Energy Generator Architecture (MEGA). This innovative system is designed to provide high-power energy crucial for plasma heating and magnetic coil control in fusion reactors.
Unlike traditional power systems, MEGA is compact and scalable, capable of delivering over 10MW/m2. It features a flexible frequency range and can be seamlessly integrated into existing systems. Oded Gour-Lavie, CEO and co-founder of nT-Tao, explained that existing power electronics could not meet the unique needs of their compact fusion design, which requires higher breakdown voltage, greater peak currents, faster switching times, and consistent results.
"Instead of retrofitting existing technology, we designed and created MEGA from the ground up," said Gour-Lavie. "This advanced power architecture allows us to meet today's demands and scale for future developments, highlighting our commitment to innovation and the pursuit of commercially viable compact fusion energy."
nT-Tao is a company based in Tel Aviv, Israel. They work on developing new technologies for creating energy, especially focusing on fusion energy.
MEGA stands for Modular Energy Generator Architecture. It is a new system created by nT-Tao to help make fusion reactors work better and produce more energy.
Fusion energy is a type of energy that is created when two light atoms join together to form a heavier atom, releasing a lot of energy. It is similar to how the sun produces energy.
Tel Aviv is a city in Israel. It is known for being a hub of technology and innovation, where many new ideas and inventions are developed.
10MW/m2 means 10 megawatts of power per square meter. A megawatt is a unit of power, and this measurement shows how much energy MEGA can produce in a small area.
