NTA Announces UGC NET 2024 Results: Over 1 Lakh Qualify for PhD Admission

UGC NET 2024 Results Announced

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the results for the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) 2024. A total of 1,12,070 candidates have qualified for PhD admissions. Additionally, 53,694 candidates have cleared the exam for Assistant Professor positions, and 4,970 have secured eligibility for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

Exam Details

This year, 11,21,225 candidates registered for the exam, with 6,84,224 appearing. The re-test was conducted from August 21 to September 5, 2024, across 280 cities in India, covering 83 subjects in 21 shifts using the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

Additional Information

The NTA has also released the subject/category-wise cut-off list. The UGC NET determines eligibility for Assistant Professor and JRF positions. Of the registered candidates, 4,85,578 were male, 6,35,588 were female, and 59 belonged to the third gender.

Controversies and Re-test

The exam faced controversies, including a paper leak, leading to a re-test. Initially conducted on June 18 in pen and paper mode, the exam was re-conducted for all subjects from August 21 to September 4.
