Novak Djokovic Wins First Round at Wimbledon After Knee Surgery
Novak Djokovic, the Serbian tennis superstar, won his first-round match at Wimbledon against Vit Kopriva with a score of 6-1, 6-2, 6-2. Despite a recent knee surgery, Djokovic showed no signs of discomfort and moved with ease on the court.
Djokovic, who is aiming for a record-equalling eighth Wimbledon title, expressed his happiness with his performance. He said, “That was very good. I did not know how everything would unfold. I am extremely pleased with how it felt.”
He also shared his sympathy for British tennis great Andy Murray, who withdrew from the singles competition due to back issues. Djokovic said, “Andy Murray withdrawing today was a great blow. Great respect for him for all he has done for this sport. I just hope he will be able to finish his career on his terms.”
In other notable matches, Andrey Rublev lost to Francisco Cerundolo, while Alexander Zverev defeated Roberto Carballes Baena to move into the second round.
