Norwegian Ambassador May-Elin Stener Praises Indian Hospitality and Yoga

New Delhi, India – July 18: Norwegian Ambassador to India, May-Elin Stener, shared her appreciation for the Indian custom of greeting with a shawl, suggesting that Norway could adopt this touching tradition. She expressed her gratitude on social media, highlighting the warm welcome she received across India.

Stener also participated in the International Yoga Day celebrations on June 21, praising the practice of yoga and recalling her experience at the United Nations General Assembly in 2014 when International Yoga Day was established. She expressed her love for yoga and the new breathing techniques she learned.

Additionally, Stener attended the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 9, emphasizing the strong and robust bilateral relations between India and Norway in various sectors such as blue economy, energy, trade, investments, environment, and climate.

India and Norway have enjoyed a cordial relationship since establishing bilateral relations in February 1947. The Indian community in Norway numbers around 26,900, with most being professionals.
