Ajaraie's Stellar Performance Leads to Victory

In an exciting match at the Mumbai Football Arena, NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) defeated Mumbai City FC (MCFC) 3-0 in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25. This marked the first victory for the Highlanders over the Islanders in their last seven meetings.

Despite controlling 65.2% of the possession, Mumbai City FC struggled to convert their chances, managing only three shots on target compared to NEUFC's seven. The home team attempted 31 crosses but failed to create significant opportunities in the final third.

Ajaraie's Record-Breaking Goal

The match began with a bang as Alaaeddine Ajaraie scored in the 46th second, setting a new record for the fastest goal by the Highlanders in an ISL game. This goal ended Mumbai City FC's four-game streak of clean sheets and was the second-fastest goal conceded by the Islanders in ISL history.

Penalty Drama and More Goals

Ajaraie had a chance to score again in the 25th minute with a penalty, awarded due to a handball by Hardik Bhatt. However, his shot was saved by goalkeeper TP Rehenesh, marking Rehenesh's fourth penalty save in the competition.

Ajaraie continued to pressure the opposition, eventually scoring his second goal in the 83rd minute with assistance from Macarton Nickson. Macarton himself scored in the 86th minute, sealing the victory for NEUFC.
