Nitin Gadkari Announces New Road Projects in Goa

Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced several new road projects in Goa. On Thursday, he revealed plans for a 45-km long bypass from Wadgaon to the Karnataka border, which will cost Rs 3500 crore. Additionally, he announced the 4-laning of the Panaji-Belgaum section of NH-748, a 53-km project costing Rs 4000 crore.

Gadkari shared these updates on the social media platform X, stating, “Announced the construction of a 45 km long bypass from Wadgaon to the Karnataka border at a cost of Rs 3500 crore in Goa today. Additionally, we will undertake the 4-laning of the Panaji-Belgaum section of NH-748. The project spans 53 km and will cost 4000 crore.”

Earlier in the day, Gadkari inaugurated a 6-lane access-controlled road with elevated viaducts from Manohar International Airport to Dhargal on NH-166S. This 7-km project, costing Rs 1183 crore, aims to improve connectivity to the airport, enhance tourism, and boost multi-modal connectivity. Gadkari noted, “The 7 km project, costing Rs1183 crore, promises to significantly improve connectivity to Manohar International Airport, facilitating faster and hassle-free travel. This development is expected to enhance tourism activities and provide a boost to multi-modal connectivity, thereby reducing logistics costs.”

He added that the project would ensure smoother and safer traffic movement, leading to savings in fuel consumption and travel time, ultimately stimulating socio-economic growth in the region. Gadkari emphasized, “Under the leadership of PM Shri @narendramodi Ji, we are ensuring streamlined, energy-efficient, and eco-friendly mobility in the state of Goa.”

Gadkari is currently on a tour of Goa, which began on July 11. On July 12, he will review the progress of National Highways Projects in the state and address the BJP Goa State Executive Meeting.
