Indian shuttler Nitesh Kumar cruised to a comfortable win in the men’s singles SL3 Group A event at the Paris Paralympics. He defeated China’s Jianyuan Yang with a score of 21-5, 21-11. Yang struggled to match Nitesh’s intensity and was outplayed.

On the other hand, Manoj Kumar faced a straight-game loss against Thailand’s Mongkhon Bunsun, losing 19-21, 8-21. Despite showing grit in the opening set, Manoj couldn’t overcome Bunsun’s challenge in the second set.

Earlier, Manasi Joshi was defeated by Ukraine’s Oksana Kozyna in the women’s singles SL3 Group A event. Manasi won the first set 21-10 but lost the next two sets 15-21, 21-23, leading to her exit from the event.

This year, India has sent its largest contingent ever to the Paralympics, with 84 athletes across 12 sports. The nation aims to surpass its previous achievements in Tokyo 2020, where the Indian badminton contingent secured four medals, including two golds, a silver, and a bronze.
