Nita and Mukesh Ambani Meet French President Macron at Paris 2024 Olympics
Nita Ambani, a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and her husband Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, met French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Saturday.
Nita Ambani, who is also the chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, was re-elected as a member of the IOC with 100% of the votes at the 142nd IOC session. She expressed her gratitude, saying, “I would like to thank President Bach and all my colleagues in the IOC for their faith and trust in me. This re-election is not just a personal milestone but also a recognition of India’s growing influence in the global sporting arena.”
Nita Ambani was first appointed to the IOC in 2016 during the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. She has been a significant figure in promoting India’s sporting ambitions and Olympic vision, including hosting the first IOC session in Mumbai in over 40 years in October 2023.
The Paris 2024 Olympics had a unique opening ceremony held outside the stadium for the first time in the history of the Summer Games. Indian athletes PV Sindhu and Sharath Kamal led the Indian team. The ceremony featured a special appearance by French football legend Zinedine Zidane, who carried the Olympic flame in a pre-recorded video.
The 2024 Summer Olympics began on July 26 and will conclude on August 11, 2024.
