NIA Raids in Chennai: Faizul Rahman and the Hizb-ut-Tahrir Conspiracy
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a significant search operation in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, targeting the residence of Faizul Rahman, a key figure in the Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT) anti-India conspiracy. The raid led to the discovery of incriminating materials, including digital devices and documents.
Faizul Rahman, arrested earlier by the NIA, was allegedly involved in promoting secessionism and seeking military support from Pakistan to liberate Kashmir. The conspiracy aimed to establish an Islamic rule by overthrowing the Indian government through violent means. Secret meetings were held to spread HuT’s divisive ideology, and campaigns were run across Tamil Nadu to further their agenda.
The Central government has declared HuT and its affiliates as terrorist organizations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The Ministry of Home Affairs highlighted HuT’s efforts to establish a global Islamic state by overthrowing democratic governments through jihad. The organization is accused of radicalizing youth and raising funds for terrorism.
Investigations continue under relevant legal sections, as the government takes steps to curb the threat posed by HuT to India’s democratic setup and internal security.
