NIA Attaches Property of Hizbul Mujahideen Worker in Sarpanch Killing Case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken action against Nasir Rashid Bhat, an overground worker of the Kashmir terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen (HM). On Friday, the NIA attached Bhat’s residential house in Tengpora village, Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir, under section 33 (1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1947. This action is part of the investigation into the targeted killing of the Adoora-Kulgam Sarpanch on March 11, 2022.

According to the NIA, Bhat, along with other members of the banned Hizbul Mujahideen, was involved in the killing to spread terror among the people. The NIA’s investigation revealed that the killing was part of a larger conspiracy by HM to disturb India’s integrity, sovereignty, and security through violent attacks and killings.

The NIA found that Bhat had provided his Alto car to the terrorists and conducted a recce of the Sarpanch’s house. He informed the HM terrorists about the target’s presence and used his car to transport the assailants to the area around the Sarpanch’s house on the day of the attack.

The NIA has chargesheeted six accused in the case, and the trial against them is ongoing.
