NEET-UG Counselling Starts August 14, Says NMC Secretary B Srinivas
The National Medical Commission (NMC) will begin counselling for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) on August 14. NMC Secretary B Srinivas announced that the process will last two months and be conducted online in four rounds. Eligible students across the country can participate, and seats will be allotted based on merit and choice.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) released revised NEET UG 2024 results, showing a significant drop in perfect scores. Initially, 67 candidates scored a perfect 720 marks, but after corrections, only 17 students achieved a perfect score. The Supreme Court ruled that there would be only one accurate answer for a specific physics question, leading to a retest for some students.
The NEET UG 2024 exam, held on May 5, faced controversies including paper leaks and time losses. Over 2.4 million candidates participated, with a substantial turnout of 1,331,321 female candidates, 996,393 male candidates, and 17 transgender candidates. The re-examination was conducted on June 23 for 1,563 candidates who experienced time loss during the original exam.
